Words of Wisdom From a Two Year Old
Some months ago I received this message from my daughter in law:
I have a two-way monitor in the kids’ room and I could hear the boys in their room disobeying. So I put the Bible app up to the speaker and hit the talk button and it read Ephesians 6:1, “Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” I turned it of and listened. Silence…..then Harvey [2 years old] says “GOD”. Raleigh [almost 5] whispers, “I think that was Mommy’s phone.” [The next] Sound was evidence of Raleigh getting off of his bed when Harvey said, “The Lord says OBEY.”
I chuckled when I first read this and then prayed for my grandsons. I also knew this was good stuff for this week. I was once again reminded we are born into a sinful world and we are selfish in nature. It is so easy for us to dismiss the voice of truth in our lives to please and justify our own desires, like “Oh, it was just Mommy’s phone.” The truth for my grandson was ,”Obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” Raleigh, at least on this day, loved himself more than he loved his mommy or God.
Psalm 119:11: I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
We each are at different places in our journey with Christ. May we each become more perceptive to God’s truth whispered in our thoughts, proclaimed by a sibling, or even spoken by mom, dad or friend.
May this be a good day for each of you. We have been praying for you.
